Now you have an awesome jpeg or png logo, and you want to make the most of it by converting it to a vector image! How will this help? Once your image/logo is converted to a vectorized image, you can then use it for promotional materials, coffee mugs, t-shirts, vehicle vinyl wraps, billboards - just about anything! Your vectorized image can be resized without losing any resolution!
Save Money
Sign makers and most commercial printers require vectorized files for printing rather then a jpeg or png. Vector images are also ideal for use as a source for web graphics. If you can't supply a vectorized image, you will be hit by expensive art charges. Most vendors won't supply the vectorized graphic to you, so this can be a recurring cost. Some vendors use automated software to vectorize your jpeg, gif or png, which will result in a less-than-ideal result. It is vital that a human, not an automated computer program, is in charge of redrawing the non vectorized jpeg logo. Only a human can understand how your new vectorized logo is supposed to look.
Color Accuracy
Unlike most pixel-based non vector jpeg files, vector graphics can encode specific color information that your printer may need to reproduce your new vectorized logo correctly. Generally this information is coded using the Pantone Matching System, and most pixel-based non vectorized image files are incapable of communicating this vector information.
How do I know what format my current logo is?
If your logo file ends in any of these extensions, then it is NOT a vector file:
jpg, gif, png, bmp, psd, tif, doc, ppt, jpeg
If your logo file ends in one of the following extensions then it may be a vectorized file:
eps, pdf, ai, cdr
These files can also contain pixel-based non vector images. Send us an email or request a free vector conversion quote, and we'll let you
know for sure.
Which Vector Image Format is the Best?
PDF vector format is often recommended because it can be opened without expensive image software and is welcomed by commercial printers and vector graphic artists. Note that PDF files can also save non vector pixel-based information, and this is what you will get if save your pixel-based non Vector logo in PDF vector format. An EPS Vector image is also popular with many printers, especially those who rely on older software that cannot import the newer Vector PDF format.
